Communication Plan

How will you generate interest in your project?

Our group will generate interest in our project by using social media and campus events such as

University of Kentucky K-Week, advertised study sessions and Residence Life Living Learning Programs.

Students will consider what forms of communication to use?

Students will consider different forms of communication such as email, text, flyers, advertisements, word of mouth and visuals of our logo  advertised on campus. We want them to see our brand everywhere on campus and think that GroupStudy is the most popular resource to use  at UK for their academics.

 Who is the target audience?

Our target audience for the GroupStudy App will be University of Kentucky students. We will focus on freshman and sophomores and our  secondary focus will be students who commute to school. Our target audience to recruit tutors for our company will be upper level UK  students.

How will you segment your audience?

We will segment our audience into a social category because our app promotes working with other peers. Our target audience will be  segmented into students who are interested in current pop culture, school and are active in social media.

  What are the audience’s interests?

According to VAL’s types, our target audience are Thinkers and Achievers. Thinkers are interested in technology that could be used in  functional ways and use resources around them to achieve their goals. Achievers are hardworking and goal-oriented, that value technology  that provides a productivity boost. Our target audience, UK freshman/sophomore students, are beginning to make their own purchase  decisions and are interested in the latest apps to download. Our target audience is also interested in helping and learning from others and are  most likely involved on campus by being members of the Living Learning Program or any other educational clubs on campus. They live a  goal-oriented lifestyle and are looking for ways to achieve their goals academically.

What media will you use to communicate with your audience?

We will communicate with our audience by social media. We will connect via Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and our website and  app.

What will your strategies and tactics be?

   Strategies:

  • A strategy that GroupStudy could use to increase their sales within the next year would be, emailing out weekly codes that GroupStudy     members can use to help give them a discount on their purchases for tutoring, notes, etc.

  • Another strategy that GroupStudy can use, will be giving returning customers 10% off on their next purchase.

  • If GroupStudy were to pair with another educational interest group, such as Wildcat Interest Group (WIG), and they could both co-brand each other or work with one another to build a stronger company and create awareness.

  Tactics:

  • We will host promotional events at the UK athletic games, K-Week, Residence Life Programs and advertised study sessions. We will have a tent or table and will hand out tumblers, koozies, T-shirts, pens and mini calculators with our GroupStudy logo on it. Our group will provide information about the app and present a flyers with the promo gifts on how to sign up for a GroupStudy account.

  Objectives:

  • To obtain 200 UK students as GroupStudy members by December 2016 through a variety of promotional materials.

  • To increase UK student consumer action on GroupStudy social media accounts by 60% in terms of likes, shares, retweets, and overall account activity by December 2016.
